Water Safety Instructor

The water safety instructor certification course trains WSI candidates to teach courses and presentations in American red cross swimming and water safety programs including; parent and child aquatics, preschool aquatics, learn to swim school age children, adult swim lessons and private lessons.  As well as the water safety courses and presentations. By developing their understanding of how to use the course materials, how to conduct training sessions, and how to evaluate participants.

Prerequisits
The participant must be at least 16 years old on a before the last day of the course. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform the following swimming skills on the first day of class.
1. Swim the following strokes consistent with the American Red Cross level 4 Standards: Front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke – 25 yards. Butterfly – 15 yards.
2. Back float for 1 minute.
3. Tread water for 1 minute

Instructor candidate information
You should bring a couple of towels, and a sweat shirt if you get cold easily. You will also want to make sure to bring a lunch snacks and something to drink.
