Getting Started in Oil Painting

Working in oil, students will acquire important tools to approach oil painting with confidence.
A supply list of the supplies and materials needed to get started in oil painting will be provided. Students will learn the basics of value-pattern, composition and color while painting the still life. Class will begin with a demonstration followed by individual attention and support. 
 

Instructor Bio
Massachusetts painter, Michelle Garro has been painting for over 25 years. She works in oil, watercolor, and pastel. Her primary subject matter includes landscapes, portraits, the figure, and still life. Her work is in private collections in the U.S. and Europe as well as corporate/institutional collections including New England Financial, and Josiah Haynes School.

She has studied at the Decordova Museum School, The Museum of Fine Arts Museum School, and with Spanish painter Francisco Castillo. The artist has continued to explore new painting approaches with Boston School painter Mary Minifie, Todd Casey, and renowned New England painters Joseph McGurl, Robert Cormier, and Cynthia Packard.

In 2004 she opened Garro Studios at Artspace Maynard which provides private and group drawing and painting instruction for all ages and levels of experience. Click on the Classes and Workshops link to learn more about the studio and classes.
